Course Description

The American Revolution.  The Civil War.  World War II.  Vietnam.  Iraq and Afghanistan.  These and other wars have marked the growth of the United States as it evolved as a new nation fighting for independence to becoming the world’s military superpower.  This course will focus on the key wars in our nation’s history, paying close attention to strategy, tactics, and the deployment of armed forces.

About the Course Author

Anthony P. Joseph, Jr. received his B.A., M.A, M.S.Ed. from Duquesne University. He also holds a certificate in Intelligence and National Security from Point Park University. Mr. Joseph holds a secondary social studies certificate, is currently social studies department chair of a charter school and is adjunct faculty at several universities in the Pittsburgh area.

Mr. Joseph is the 2009 recipient of the George C. Oehmler Award presented by the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh "For exemplary performance on the part of a teacher in connection with the International Affairs Education Program of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh".

He is also 2009 Adjunct Faculty of the Community College of Allegheny County, North Campus. Mr. Joseph served in the United States Army, Signal Corps in the Republic of Vietnam.

Mr. Joseph has also written several columns for a weekly newspaper and book reviews for local newspapers.
